On May 1, Takoma Adventist Hospital officially affiliated with Wellmont Health System in northeastern Tennessee.
The affiliation was first announced in December when Adventist Health System and Wellmont reached an agreement to share ownership of Takoma.
Adventist Health System transferred ownership of the 108-bed hospital to a new, not-for-profit corporatation, with Wellmont serving as the majority owner. The hospital name was changed to Takoma Regional Hospital to reflect Wellmont’s regional market.
“We are very pleased to partner with Wellmont, because we share the same Christian vision of providing compassionate, superior health care for all those whose lives we touch,” said Carlyle Walton, Takoma’s president and chief executive officer. “This affiliation will allow us to deliver even stronger and more efficient patient care to our community. We will become a greater community asset.”
As a result, clinical programs and physician specialties and availability will be expanded, and residents of Greene and surrounding counties will have access to a larger specialty physician network.
The partnership will have no effect on any scheduled patient appointments, surgeries, community health events, or classes. Patients with questions may call (423) 639-3151.
“Extending the healing ministry of Christ will remain our mission and cornerstone for how the hospital is operated,” said Walton.
