New Patient Tower Ready to Open at Florida Hospital East Orlando
1/29/2007

Florida Hospital is proud to announce the opening of a new five-story patient tower at the East Orlando Campus. The new building is part of a major expansion in the works at Florida Hospital. The patient tower at East Orlando will be the first new tower in the FH System to open since Florida Hospital Celebration Health opened in 1997. This is very exciting news for Florida Hospital and the community we serve. The new expansion is expected to bring 150 new jobs to the area and will be ready to accept patients in mid-February.

FHEO Expansion – Quick Facts

  • It is five-stories tall and 200,000 square feet in area
  • There are 80 new private rooms and capacity for 80 future rooms
  • There is a new drive-thru portico, chapel, nutritional services and two new sleep labs doubling the existing sleep center
  • It has a new, in-house, state-of-the-art MRI
  • The Imaging Department and Cardiology have been expanded

To enhance the patient experience, the new tower was built knowing that first impressions really do count. Upon entering the building, patients and families walk into the “Healing Boulevard,” a row of outpatient services including Imagine, Cardiology, Respiratory Services and the Sleep Center. With a brightly lit and warm lobby, it is the perfect gateway  to the new healing environment ahead.

The patient rooms at FHEO will set the new standard for hospitals. The new, private rooms are designed to be relaxing and built to appeal to the mind, body and spirit. Each room features a large window, wood floors and a flat-screen TV. There is a “family room” space big enough to accommodate visiting family and friends. These new rooms will offer a patient experience previously unmatched.

The FHEO tower design is beautiful inside and out, and it houses the latest medical technology. For example, the Imaging Department has been expanded to include an in-house MRI, which creates highly detailed pictures of anatomy and pathology to help physicians diagnose and heal. There are two new x-ray machines, a new ultrasound machine and a new nuclear medicine camera.

Highly-skilled doctors and nurses will use the building and work with all the new equipment inside. Florida Hospital East Orlando already has the finest physicians specializing in Cardiology, Radiology, Pediatrics, and Emergency Medicine. The hospital continues to recruit physicians for very specific programs and minimally invasive procedures.

There will be a Grand Opening event on February 1 with a “Celebrating Everyone in VIP Style With First Class Health Care” theme. FHEO plans to officially open the doors to the public by the middle of February. Our mission, high-tech equipment, skilled physicians and all the caring employees will make the East Orlando patient tower a new symbol of hope and healing. The expansion at East, as well as the entire Florida Hospital System, is more than just improvements and additions. For nearly 100 years, Florida Hospital has had “The Skill to Heal and Spirit to Care” for the Central Florida community. The impressiveness of the new structure will be matched by what is going on inside it. FH is creating the absolute best Patient Experience possible.
